Full description
Immerse yourself in Georgia's unique and delicious food traditions, from toast-making to food sharing and slow cooking. This is your chance to experience a meal, Georgian-style. Begin your tour with an introduction to Georgian cooking at a shop selling an eclectic assortment of spices and cheeses to learn about the origins of traditional Georgian food.

Next, stroll the backstreets of the charming Old Town towards a restaurant that’s popular with the locals for its traditional cuisine. Here, sit down to a delicious traditional lunch composed of khinkali (dumplings filled with meat and steaming broth), Georgian salad and vegetable pkhali (crushed aubergine/spinach/beetroot with walnut and garlic paste) which you can wash down with a glass of local wine or even chacha (a type of strong, local brandy) if you're brave enough.

Finally, visit a museum/shop that focuses on all things tea. Learn about local tea drinking traditions and about the growing revival of tea-drinking in Georgia while you indulge in a tea ceremony. Your host will share his fascinating stories about his work and his life growing up in Tbilisi. The tour ends here, but if you wish to continue your food and drink adventure, your guide will be able to recommend more stops to keep those hunger and thirst pangs at bay.
