Departure from Djerba at 7:00 AM Begin your adventure early to make the most of your day. A comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle will pick you up directly from your hotel in Djerba, ensuring a relaxed start to your day of exploration. Crossing the Roman Causeway: As you leave Djerba, you'll travel across the ancient Roman causeway, a remarkable feat of engineering connecting the island to the mainland. This road once played a crucial role in supplying fresh water to Djerba via an extensive network of pipelines. Take in the scenery and historical significance of this route. Photo stop at Sebkhet el Melah Salt Lake: Your first stop will be at the stunning salt lake of Sebkhet el Melah. Known for its vibrant and ever-changing colors, this vast lake offers the perfect opportunity for memorable photos. Its reflective surfaces and unique landscape make it a must-see. Stop in Tataouine: Arrive in the town of Tataouine for a coffee break and a visit to the local market (if open). This bustling market is a great place to experience local culture, try traditional foods, and perhaps find some unique souvenirs. The town itself offers a glimpse into everyday life in this part of Tunisia. Visit to Ksar Ouled Soltane: Explore Ksar Ouled Soltane, a fortified granary once used to protect grain supplies from raiders. This ksar is renowned for its traditional Berber architecture and was a filming location for Star Wars. The multi-story ghorfas (grain storage rooms) provide a fascinating insight into Berber history and ingenuity. Visit to Chenini village: Next, you'll visit Chenini, a Berber village perched on a hilltop. This ancient village blends seamlessly into the rocky landscape with its troglodyte dwellings carved into the mountain. A guided tour will help you better understand the history and culture of this authentic, historic site. Lunch in chenini: Stop for a delicious lunch in the picturesque village of Chenini. Enjoy traditional Tunisian cuisine at a local restaurant, where you can relax and savor the regional flavors before continuing your tour Visit to Ksar Hadada: Explore Ksar Hadada, another iconic Star Wars filming location. The unique architecture and historical significance of this ksar make it one of the highlights of the tour. You'll have ample time to explore and take photos of this remarkable site. Passing through Médenine: On your way back to Djerba, you’ll pass through the town of Médenine.

Day 1: Your tour will begin as you depart from your hotel to Tataouine. You will then begin by crossing Roman Road, the structure that connects the island to continental Africa. You will then take a break at the salt lake of Chahbania to enjoy the view and to take photos. Following this, you will enjoy a 40-minute stroll in the streets of Tataouine's market to discover the Berber products and spices for sale. You will then head to the village of Chenini, where you will enjoy a walk to discover it with a local guide. At midday, you will taste the flavors of a local meal in a Berber restaurant. Following lunch, you will cross the Erg (or the desert of rocks) and head to Ksar Ghilane. Upon your arrival you can enjoy a swim in its natural water spray, in an area located between the greenery of the oasis and the yellow color of the sand dunes. Whilst at this location there will also be the possibility of taking a camel ride tour or a quad-bike tour of the dunes (not included). By the end of the day, you will go to your camp to enjoy one of the best sunsets of Southern Tunisia. At the camp, you will have a tent, be able to take a shower, and can also experience the preparation of "sand bread" just before dinner. Following dinner, you will enjoy free time to admire the starry sky in the silence of the desert. Day 2: Following breakfast, you will head to Matmata, the troglodyte village. Your first stop will be to the Berber village of Tamazret, where you can taste an "amandes" tea. Following the break, you will visit a Berber family at their underground house, where you will enjoy an authentic local lunch. Following lunch you will head to Sidi Idriss, a troglodyte hotel where some scenes of the Star Wars film had been shot, and where we can still find some film decor. The final visit of the day will be to the Berber village of Toujane, which is hidden between two mountains and famous for handmade carpets and honey. At the end of the day, you will be returned safely to your hotel with a head full of great memories.

Get picked up from your hotel at 7:00 AM and head toward Tataouine on the Roman road. Stop first in Khalfallah to visit an oil mill during the olive harvest season, or at the sand dunes of the Chahbania. Continue to Tataouine and take some time exploring the market and downtown. Proceed to Cenini, a village topped by a rocky ridge and home to an old mosque. Come mid-day, enjoy lunch at the Kenza Chenini or a similar restaurant before embarking on a guided tour of the Berber village. Depart to Ksar El Ferch or Ksar Hdadda for a fascinating tour of the grounds. Head back to Djerba via the Roman road, arriving at your hotel at around 5:30 PM. In the morning, you will be picked up by your friendly driver in the comfort of your accommodation. After a short meet and greet, you will set-off to discover the wonders of Southern Tunisia.  Start your journey by leaving the island of Djerba, travelling down an old Roman road and taking stunning holiday pictures of Chahbania along the way. Continue to Tataouine, the city that gave its name to the planet "Taooine" in the Star Wars Saga, and enjoy some free time to walk in the market - a great place to refine your haggling skills.  Continue on your tour toward Chenini, the berber village overlooking the mountain and stay for about an hour with your local guide. This guide will be pleased to introduce you to the various components of the village: the oil mill, the mosque, houses carved into the walls of the mountains and the attic and much more. After this introduction you'll get to feast on a delicious meal consisting of local food. From here, continue to Ksar Ouled Soltane, where some scenes from the Star Wars movie "The Phantom Menace" were shot. To round off your fantastic day, head back to Djerba in an air-conditioned vehicle.

Following a pickup from your accommodation, start the day tour by leaving the island of Djerba through the historic Roman road. The first stop will be at the top of the Ain El Anba mountain that overlooks the plane of the Jeffara to enjoy the panoramic view. Next, travel across the stony tracks towards Ksar Ghilane, an oasis at the edge of the Sahara Desert. It is also a well known for its hot springs and ruins of a Roman fort. Here you can enjoy a 1-hour camel ride in the dunes or a quad ride (extra) then take time to relax and have a dip in the hot water springs. Afterwards, enjoy lunch in a restaurant opposite the dunes before departing for Guermassa, a completely deserted Berber village located at the top of a mountain. Walk with your guide who will share their local knowledge. Visit attractions including the hollow houses in the walls of the mountain, the village mosque, and the granaries. Then you’ll head to a berber Ksar, one of the best-preserved ksour (North African term for Berber castle) in Tataouine and the memorable location of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. End the day with a comfortable drop-off back at your accommodation.

A perfect stop for historical photos. Explore Chenini: This Berber village, dating back to the 11th century, is nestled in the mountains with homes carved directly into the rock. Explore its unique architecture and discover its rich history.Lunch at a local restaurant with Berber specialties. Afternoon:4x4 Adventure: Head off on sandy desert trails (“the reg”) towards the oasis of Ksar Ghilane. Arrival at Ksar Ghilane: An exotic oasis in the middle of the desert with traditional camps and a hot spring. Optional activities (payable on-site):Camel ride: Explore the surrounding sand dunes on a camel.Quad biking: For a more adventurous experience, ride a quad across the desert to reach an ancient Roman fort. Swim in the hot spring: Relax in this natural hot spring after a day of adventure. Evening:Arrival at the camp (Zmela or similar): Situated at the foot of sand dunes, accessible only by 4x4. Enjoy the sunset over the dunes. Settle in under a tent, enjoy a traditional Berber dinner, and relax around a campfire under the starry desert sky. Day 2: Ksar Ghilane – Matmata – Tamazret – Toujane – Return to Djerba Morning:Gentle wake-up with breakfast at the camp. Depart by 4x4 towards the Berber village of Tamezret: A picturesque mountain village with stone houses. Stop for some panoramic photos. Continue towards Matmata:Visit Matmata: Known for its troglodyte homes (underground houses), Matmata offers a lunar landscape and was one of the filming locations for Star Wars. Visit a troglodyte house and meet a local Berber family still living in these unique homes. Lunch with a local family in an underground house, where you’ll enjoy traditional dishes and learn about the daily life of the inhabitants. Afternoon:Route towards Toujane: This perched Berber village offers a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. A photo stop is a must to capture the stunning scenery. Return to Djerba: Arrive back at your hotel in the late afternoon after an unforgettable adventure through southern Tunisia.
