Had a fantastic time at the zoo. The ferry ride was easy and relaxing, with a bus to take you to the top of the zoo to the main entrance. Highly recommend starting at the top and working your way down as the zoo is very hilly. Lots of picnic spots and places to eat, so I brought lunch and ate next to the giraffes. Beautiful views of the Sydney harbour and skyline. Also recommend doing your souvenir shopping at the main entrance as the gift shops at the bottom of the zoo had a smaller selection of items. If I had known, I wouldn’t have waited to buy my souvenirs to the end because some items I wanted weren’t at the shop.

Took advice to use shuttle bus to entrance at top of hill so walking down was easier. Following the map was ideal to take in all the animals. Staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Sea lion show not to be missed. Plenty of toilets and food outlets. Easy to reach from Circular Quay. A great day out

The zoo has a huge variety of animals, ones I didn’t expect to see. It’s very busy and popular with families. Great view of the Sydney skyline with the giraffes in the background. Only a few koalas which I went to see. Tickets for koala experiences are limited and they only run for a few hours a day so you have to arrive really early to get a slot. You can’t hold or pet them though here. Not many kangaroos sadly. Large food village with nice food for different diets - as a coeliac there was options for me which was great. There isn’t a natural path around to follow so there is a lot of walking to ensure you see everything. There is a ferry which I found out so got back to Sydney on this which was nicer than the bus.
