Tarcoles River: Jungle Crocodile Safari & Bird Watching Tour

Loved it, the guide was laid back, fun and knowledgable. We saw so many crocodiles and other beautiful wildlife as well. Would definitely recommend.

The trip was wonderful. We were on the afternoon tour and it was low tide. We saw 20+ new bird species, mostly wading birds. Check the tide tables before you go. Low tide is great for seeing lots of birds, but we could not get far enough upstream to see more large crocs. If your main interest is crocs, take a tour near high tide when the river upstream is more navigable. We only had 6 other people on the large boat, so we had ample room to move around and take pictures. The guides was great and knew all the birds and their habits. We saw baby crocodiles and one huge croc that is reputed to be 95 years old. Wow! When you board the boat they give you a color brochure of about 60 birds that are common to the area. Very helpful! The gift shop has free water and juice. Very refreshing in the heat!
