Full description

Experience the magic of the Sicilian resort of Taormina, and discover why it is called the “Pearl of the Mediterranean.” The 1.5-hour walking tour starts at the Porta Messina, the entrance gate to the main street. Let your guide lead you to Palazzo Corvaja, an enchanting 10th-century palace that sets the scene for the rest of the tour. Continue to the ruins of the Roman Theater (visited from the outside), discovered in 1892. Take a walk through history as you wander the lively but laid-back streets of the old town, following in the footsteps of Wagner, Oscar Wilde, Cary Grant and Ingmar Bergmann, all one time visitors to Taormina. See romantic gardens and streets full of flowers. Catch the waft of grilled fish fresh from the sea coming from typical family-run restaurants. Listen to the sound of serenading Sicilian singers. Walk along the Corso Umberto - the main street of Taormina - to get panoramic views of the coast and Mt. Etna in the distance. Pass the façade of the San Domenico cloister, now a beautiful 5-star hotel, and wander the streets of the old Jewish neighborhood. End at the Piazza del Duomo, dominated by the 13th-century cathedral.

Excellent experience. Margaret our guide is a beautiful woman, elegant, intelligent, acute, with subtle humor and great culture, who has been able to lead us into the history of the city, Sicily and the Greek theater through extremely interesting anecdotes, stories and historical references and, why no, fun, which made the tour interesting and in-depth but still light and captivating. Congratulations Margaret! We hope to meet you again !!!! THANK YOU !! Alessandra Laura Guglielmo and Olimpia 19.08.21

Very knowledgeable tour guide but....

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave a great tour of the Greek Theater. The tour however is supposed to be 90 minutes and supposed to start at the entrance gate of Taormina, it was only 70 minutes and started at the theater. The tour of the theater was thorough and detailed but once we left the theater it was just a quick walk through Taormina with a few short informative briefings. The tour states that you receive a complimentary drink at a bar with breathtaking views, we did not get this. The tour ended at a local bar and then the guide left us there.

Best experience in Taormina!

It was a group of 8 persons from all around the world. Our guide Margaret was very knowledgeable, nice and proud of her town that we felt like home. Apart the most important monuments and churches, we discovered a lot of wonderful corners and little hidden streets with original stories from natives, which you can't find in any travel guide books. Was one of the best 1,5 hours in Taormina! Highly recommended.
