From Taormina: Etna Upper Craters Day Tour

The tour was pretty well organised at the bus terminal-do not be afraid to ask a guide to confirm you are on a list. The bus trip itself is about an hour and a half on the road with about a half hour getting up the Etna slopes. Worth listening to the guide as your day will take a different path if you ignore timings (the bus departed left exactly on time). Your tour guide allowed 15 mins for a bathroom break at the Etna drop off point which is where you also receive your cable car and upper slopes pass. Cable car was fun with some amazing scenery on the way up. You then queue for the jeep-bus to the upper slopes where your mountain guide takes over. We had Marco who provided an interesting summary of recent volcanic activity mixed with geological facts and figures. Really nice guy who answered many questions but also found time for a team photo! Do listen to these guys. If they say stay in area, stay there; unlike a few bozos who insisted on wondering off. An amazing experience

Great experience. Transport very. comfortable and on time. Skilled driver excellent guide on coach with good amount of information. Etna - we chose upper craters tour - cable car and jeep. Good amount of time to enjoy these and walk around and get refreshments. Pleased didn’t do the base tour only as would have been far too long to wait for this tour to return (as tours share transport). Need good walking shoes and layers. It was much warmer at the top than we expected ! Need to be able to climb a steep hill once leave jeep. We visited when Etna was emitting rings of smoke which made it extra special. And clear day made great views Plenty of cafes to get food and drink shops for souvenirs. A must do. Good value for money. Back in Taormina late afternoon.
