Full description
Experience the wild beauty of Sicily on a full-day outdoor excursion, and head into the wonders of nature to enjoy one of the island’s most impressive icons. Your first stop will be the Alcantara Gorges to see how a river dug a stunning canyon into the lava stones that spilled out of Etna. Then, head to the flaming heart of the island and attempt to reach the top of an active volcano! Stop at Rifugio Sapienza, located 2,000 meters above sea level. Here, your guide will explain some interesting facts about the mountain, the highest active volcano on the European continent. The view from the refuge is stunning. But nothing compares with the view from 2,900 meters! Those that choose to carry on will take a breathtaking ascent to the main crater by cable car and off-road minibus. Then, hike around the lunar-like lava landscape.

My friend and I were the first time that we used your site for excursions but we can say that we found ourselves very well. The guide was very kind to us and very clear with the explanations. Beautiful excursion. The only thing is that the site was not very clear with the fact that you made excursions only in English and that the itinerary was not clear in the ticket.

Could have been great maybe....

Given the expensive and pre-paid nature of this excursion, you would expect a decent service. The quality of service prior to the excursion was great and a very nice lady was in touch with me to arrange the details. However, on the day the excursion bus left without us without even once trying to get in touch with us (we were 15mins late but in Sicily everything seemed to be delayed by hours sometimes), never experienced such a thing before. The service after that was very poor and nobody bothered to get in touch with us - seemed like they got paid and that's all they needed. Tried to chase the bus by car but we were given wrong instructions by our hotel and drove to wrong location on Etna. All in all, we did not attend the excursion but joined another group, luckily they were happy to not charge us again as they saw how much money we already paid for our PRIVATE excursion we had booked with Get your guide.
