Tangier: Full-Day Trip to Chefchaouen

10. Tangier: Full-Day Trip to Chefchaouen

After being collected from your Tangier accommodation, you will travel towards Chefchaouen. The city of Chefchaouen is one of the most attractive places of the north of Morocco, standing between the Rif mountains as a small piece of Andalucía. In the past, Chefchaouen was a walled city, which is why the Medina is divided into seven neighborhoods. One of them is Er Rif Al Andalus, where the Majzén Square can be viewed. Er Rif Al Andalus is also an access point to Uta el-Hammam, the most important square of the city. Here, in the Kasbah, the Andalusian Gardens and the Ethnic Museum can be found. Traveling further and bordering the Mosque, you will encounter the Mellah (the Jewish neighborhood) and Es Sueca, where many textile and craft shops are. Coming back to Uta el Hammam Square, you will encounter Es Sok, where the Moorish were settled in the 15th century. This area is home to two beautiful monuments, Huata Square, with its amazing fountain, and the Suk Mosque. Traveling through Uta el-Hammam Square once more, you will discover Kenitra Square Appears, which due to its remarkable breadth creates a stark contrast alongside the narrow streets. Other worthwhile place in the area are En Onsar, containing Zaituna Square and its centenary olive tree. Once outside the Medina and through Bab Onsar Gate, the Ras el Ma Fountain offers an incredible visual sight with its cascades, its naturally formed pools, and its mills and the washerwomen. From this point, you will enter the Medina in the El Rif Sebbadin neighborhood, where Sebbadin Square and a 15th-century mosque are located. At the conclusion of your tour, you will be transported back to your Tangier accommodation.

We had a friendly, skilled, and communicative driver for the whole day (Khaled), and two very nice local guides (one for the hike, and one for Chefchauouen), and I cannot recommend this expedition highly enough - it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip! We felt taken care of the whole time, and the driver + guides struck the right balance, answering all of our questions but also giving us our own space and time together. Communication before the trip, arranging time and location of pickup, was also smooth and easy. We ended up making a slight on-fly-the adjustment, doing the hike before visiting Chefchaouen rather than afterwards, and that ended up being the perfect choice for our group and that day. Our hiking guide also gave us the choice between two routes, suggesting one in particular for our young & active group, featuring a view of a beautiful natural bridge - if you're up for a small challenge, it was definitely worth it! Amazing day, would do it again, 5 stars!

Everything was exactly as described! I was picked up on time at the meeting point, the van was very comfortable and after arriving in Chefchaouen we met our guide who shared a lot of information and took us to the best photo spots. It was a great day & I'd recommend for someone who wants a day trip to Chefchaouen!

We really recommend this tour. They were in contact with us through WhatsApp one day before and answering all our questions. The driver and the tour guide were very friendly. The car is clean and big, they arrived on time and took us back where we asked them. We highly recommend it
