Full description
Make like a local on a food tasting tour of Taipei and learn why the city is known for its tasty mash-up of Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Hear about the rich food heritage as you eat at hole-in-the wall places, explore local markets, and discover city highlights between stops. Sample savory scallion pancakes, and stop at a 40-year-old sushi stand where the owners wake at dawn to prepare the rice. Learn how to use chopsticks like an expert to sample sushi at its best. See where the locals buy fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and other ingredients at Dongmen Market. Pick-up some refreshing pineapple, share a fish ball broth and bite into the best roasted sweet potatoes. Enjoy a typical Chinese meat pie and quench your thirst with a healthy soy drink. Sit down to a local signature braised pork with rice, and top it all off with a visit to a typical university food stop to mingle with the students as you enjoy a tempura snack with warm barbecue sauce. End with a mochi rice cake at a traditional Japanese food shop.

The food we tasted was amazing. The guide was unbelievably gracious and knowledgable. He not only had us taste some wonderful food, but he patiently answered all our questions, and explained many different aspects of their culture. My wife and I enjoyed the tour so much, that we would take it again the next time we are there.

It was a very good experience to sample foods from establishments that are off the beaten track and not a lot of tourists know about. My wife and I were sad though that we were not able to sample foods from a night market due to light rain but honestly, I do not think we would be able to anyway as we were already full!

Fabulous introduction to Taiwanese food!

Lynton was our guide and is obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about food. He took us around an excellent variety of restaurants, shops and stalls. While we didn’t eat a huge amount at each stop, it all added up! Lynton had also purchased a couple of items earlier in the day to give us the full experience. The experience gave us just the confidence we needed to try more places on our own during the rest of our stay. I’d highly recommend it.
