Full description
Following a convenient pickup from your hotel in downtown Taipei City or from the meeting point at Taipei Main Station, depart with your tour guide and driver to the Taiwanese homeland of the Hakka people. Most of the Hakka immigrants who moved from southern China live in Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Kaohsiung, and Hualien. Every year between April and May, the so-called "May snow" can be seen blooming along Provincial Highway 3, and the snow white blossom of the tung tree has become a symbol of the Hakka people.

The tour starts with a railway ride from Love Station (Hexing Station) to Zhudong Station in the morning. Before lunch, stop by Zhudong Creative Park, an art exhibition location converted from an old staff dormitory. Then, move to the traditional Zhudong Market, Taiwan’s largest Hakka market, where you’ll have the opportunity to try three traditional Hakka snacks.

Situated in the western part of Hsinchu County, Beipu is a Hakka township where many buildings dating back to the Qing dynasty and Japanese colonial era are still well preserved. Enjoy a walking tour along Beipu Old Street, taking in the Beipu Citian Temple, Jin Guang Fu House, and many more.

The Hakka people are widely known for their unique food culture and after the walking tour enjoy a refreshing cup of lei tea, a traditional Hakka drink made by grinding pumpkin seeds, peanuts, sesame seeds, tea leaves, and other ingredients softly blended with hot water. Easy to make and rich in nutrition, it’s an energy drink to the Hakka people.

Taiwan is known as the Kingdom of Fruit where fresh fruits are available all year round. A wonderful day concludes at a local fruit farm where you’ll pick and bring home fresh seasonal fruit, full of the warmth and hospitality of the Hakka people. Later in the afternoon, the tour ends with a return journey to your hotel or starting point in Taipei.
