  • Dress warm, even in the summer, as it can be quite cool on the St. Lawrence River
  • Cruises are not canceled due to rain unless the weather presents a danger to your safety. There is always an enclosed area on the boat
  • The incursion into the fjord is not systematic and is at the Captain's discretion

The whale watching tour was exceptional. We saw Beluga and Minke whales as well as grey seals and absolutely breathtaking scenery. Our guide was knowledgeable as well as bilingual which was very helpful. We opted for the VIP package and were grateful for an indoor cabin to relax and watch for whales as it was very windy and cool on deck. We still had access to an open air deck. Our steward was very attentive, drinks were available on demand and we were served a nice lunch with the BEST chocolate brownie. This was a terrific experience

The website is clear and accurate. The staff were all friendly. We were on a large boat with indoor seating, catering and toilet facilities. There was a visible presence of staff in all parts of the ship - good look for safety. We went on a warm sunny day but wind and water temp mean coats are a good idea. We were lucky enough to see several types of whale porpoise and seal. Some commentary also mentioned the bird life. The big boat is more comfortable than a zodiac tour but slower moving and higher up off the water - good to see farther but less close if you do see something. The regulated distances for observation were adhered to. You can’t take food on board but there is a covered area to allow food to be eaten prior to boarding. My daughter and I are hearing impaired so the on board commentary (French and English) by loudspeaker wasn’t that clear for us - but there is also an interpreter circulating the ship for face to face communication.

Try to go on a clear day and carry nice winter wear (wool cap, gloves and at least 1 jacket) in order to see more closely and with a front view. The cafe is a good place to sit if you are feeling cold, and there is a decent collection of coffee and drinks. However the food is only cold. We were totally pleasantly stunned with the experience. So many different types of whales and a non stop sighting trip. The commentator made the whole experience ethereal. The big boat is slower than a zodiac but is more convenient with the washrooms and indoor sitting areas. Thankfully these operators around Baie-Saint-Catherine and Tadoussac gladly share sighting information among themselves and hence all are at the right place at the right time.
