Full description

Depart from the pier in Tadoussac or Baie-Sainte-Catherine and head out on an observation boat on a tour of the marine ecosystem in Quebec's Saguenay-St-Lawrence Marine Park. Embark on a 3-hour whale-watching trip, and observe geological formations like the Saguenay Fjord. As you sail along the waters of this marine reserve aboard the Grand Fleuve, keep your eyes peeled for whales. The area is best known for its colony of belugas, but you can also sometimes spot blue whales, minke whales, and fin whales. Continue your adventure with a visit to the magnificent Saguenay Fjord. This inlet is 65 miles long and sometimes as wide as 2.5 miles. The fjord is also in Saguenay Fjord National Park, sometimes overlapping with Saguenay-St-Lawrence Marine Park. You will be amazed by the wonder of marine life and geological formations as you cruise the waters on this relaxing and informative tour.

We enjoyed ourselves however were expecting to see more whales than we did. It is very important to be prepared with multiple layers of clothing as we experienced hot sun, strong cold winds, rain showers, and cloudy conditions all on the same trip! The guide was very informative and interesting. The scenery was beautiful. I noticed that families with children under the age of 10 found the trip long, however, my 12 year old enjoyed all of it.

Was a great trip and a wonderful experience. We travelled through Baei Sainte Catherine and got the ferry across, to learn the boat went across to the dock in Baei Saint Catherine before heading out on the trip! Boas has great facilities and plenty of space. The whales were the icing on the cake.

The experience takes place on a boat where there are many people. We went to sea for almost 3h30 to observe the whales, we saw 6 in total. The boat locates the whales thanks to the local guides and puts itself close so that the travelers can see them. Other species may also be visible such as belugas or porpoises. It was a very pleasant experience despite the crowd on board. There is a restaurant on the boat as well as a souvenir shop. Please note: bring warm clothes and remember to pick up your paper tickets at the AML shop (Tadoussac center for boarding in Tadoussac) in order to be able to board and obtain information on the transfer from Tadoussac to the boat.
