Once you reach Petra, it is absolutely spectacular! You are given plenty of time to walk, wander, take photos and receive information from the brilliant guides. The journey to get there is long and you need to be prepared for that. However, the tour operator keeps you well informed and their process works. Just be aware that the Egyptian border crossing is within a military area and they confiscate cameras and lenses which are more than 15mm. Ludicrous and quite frightening but the Egyptian guide keeps it and you get it back. Just wish that we had known beforehand.
