Wrocław: Centennial Hall and Surroundings

6. Wrocław: Centennial Hall and Surroundings

It is impossible to be in the city without visiting the Centennial Hall. The hall is a pearl of modern architecture. Visit the only building in Wroclaw on the UNESCO World Heritage List. See the first structure with a dome bigger than the one of the Pantheon in Rome. This quarter was silent witness to the city's history in the 20th century. The Centennial Hall is a symbol of the city. It was the venue of many celebrations during the Nazi era and even after WWII, their rooms served magnificent events. The Hall also played an important role during the Propaganda Exhibition in the communist time. The area surrounding the Centennial Hall also has a lot to offer - the pergola and the fountain with water features, the Four-Dome-Pavilion, WUWA (one of the most important modernist architecture exhibitions), the Japanese Garden, the St. John Nepomuk Church. It is a tour that combines nature and architecture in a special way.

A great tour of the old town, Cathedral Island and Centennial Hall. The tour guide, Yanek was an excellent communicator and really knew the history of Wroclaw. He was really engaging. The electric vehicle was warm and the blankets appreciated in December! At the end of the tour Yanek recommended a coffee place and a venue for dinner in the old town. We tried both, and they were excellent too! Recommended.
