What People Are Saying About Syracuse
Emails from Frederico at Curioseety were friendly and helped us get to the winery. The place is beautiful and the guide at Planeta was informative and interesting. The meal was delicious and the wines were too!
Fascinating tour of the different landscapes on north and south of the island bringing in the Valley of the Temples and Villa Romana del Casale which were stunning. Vincenzo was extremely knowledgeable and gave a great insight into Sicily throughout the tour. It was definitely worth having a guide and good quality minibus for the tour, learning much more about the area, spending the time better and not having to drive!! I would thoroughly recommend this as a way to cross the island.
We had a great Segway experience in Ortigia/Syracuse, considering it's not a tour they do often, if at all. We met in a convenient parking lot where our private group of 4 was able to get all the segway training we needed. We had two guides, the man in the front did the navigating, and our cute Italian gal in the back provided all the history and information via headphones. Going out on Sicily's streets and sidewalks was a bit more tricky navigating than I expected. We were mindful of bumpy cobblestones, fast cars and even old people on the sidewalks who weren't a bit too happy seeing Segways go by. The tour of Ortigia was great and informative, with a fabulous tour of the Basicalla and beautiful coastal waters. I do wish I would have customized the tour to include entrance to the Archeological Park and ampitheater. We saw only the quarries at the end of the tour, so I felt like we missed an important part. Had I known, we would have seen that before meeting up for the tour.
We were surprised at first to be the only two English passengers on a bus full of Italian tourists but it was a lot of fun. We met people from all over Italy, they were very patient and kind with us. Our guide Riccardo worked very hard in both languages...wow. We saw everything we wanted to see in Sicily and the nice part is that we did not have to drive, we could relax and learn about the area through our guide's narratives. We really enjoyed it. The food was great for the most part except for the last day, the lunch was not very good so we found our own restaurant for dinner. I noticed that there were red wine drinkers who were not interested in the white wines, so maybe they should identify themselves at the beginning of the tour so the guide is aware of it. Our accommodations were all fine except for the first hotel in Palermo, it was quite noisy. I think it's an interesting way to organize a tour and would do it again. Thank you again for everything. Great job.
On this tour we were 75 persons. The guide had a great responsabilbity to pilot us all, and she did it very proffessionally. She also changed from English to German to Italian and back to English again instantanously. I just say, BRAVO! We had a local guide at the Greek theater, who were very learned and skilled. I appreciated too, the visit in the charming harbour of Siracusa and the visit to the island of Ortigia.
