The activity is pretty much as described here. We were prepared for long hours of drive, and that was actually okay. The volcano sights are really special and made for wonderful memories. Nonetheless, a few things to mention: First, the tours start even earlier than indicated here. The tour to Bromo started at 02:30am, i.e. wake-up time is 02:00am. This is to secure a good viewing spot, since there are hundreds, if not thousands of other tourists who have the same idea. So don't expect something "that only few others are doing". certainly not ;-) The tour to Ijen then starts even at 11:30pm the previous evening, meaning effectively an all-nighter. It's tough to make up for this, since one would need to sleep during the day, which however means you are building a jetlag and completely mess up your sleep schedule.so you end up tired.Bottom line, I also don't understand the obsession of everyone with sunrise hikes ;-)it's not soo cool to hike up in complete darkness, sleep-deprived&cold

Full description

Explore the island of Java by visiting the famous volcanoes on the island of Java, Bromo and Ijen. Depart from Yogyakarta by private mini van/van, accompanied by an experienced English-speaking tour manager. And explore Mount Bromo using a 4x4 vehicle to see the sunrise, and climb the crater rim. Then head to Ijen to see the famous blue fire. And watch the sunrise from the crater rim with a charming turquoise lake. The tour will end at Ketapang Ferry Terminal, Banyuwangi, and you can continue your journey to Bali. Day 1 You will be picked up and heading directly to your accommodation in Bromo. Day 2 Picked up by a 4x4 vehicle and head to the sunrise point, enjoy the sunrise and head to sand area for a photo session with the background of the Widodaren hill, then hiking to bromo begins towards the crater rim. Then return back to accommodation for breakfast and continue the journey to Ijen. Day 3 Hiking to ijen starts at 2 am, and hiking for 2 hours to the blue fire point. Then back to the crater rim to see the sunrise. then back to starting point and continue driving to get to the ferry terminal. You will be at Ferry terminal at 9am apprx.   • From Yogyakarta to Bromo it is 426km (7-hours of driving), from Bromo to Bondowoso it is 142km (4-hours of driving), and from Bondowoso to Ijen it is66km (2-hours of driving)

The tour was such an amazing adventure! Of course you need to buy in to the early wake ups and long drives but it was such a special experience, I would recommend it to anyone! Our Guide and Driver Bima was 11/10!! He was incredible and made myself and my partner feel extremely comfortable and safe during the driving. He was such an interesting and knowledgable guide sharing his experiences of Java Culture and both Bromo and Igen with us in the build up to the visits. Thank you Bima our adventure was so much better because of your effort and friendship! The car was super comfy and we regularly stopped at very clean WC facilities and very good lunch spots! The hotels were above expectation and were comfortable and clean. Bromo was such an amazing walk but very cold! Igen was not a difficult walk, you can do it in trainers. The local guide Malik was also fantastic and made the experience fun and made us feel very safe! Thank you again!!
