What people are saying about Sultanahmet District
I saw the whirling dervishes on tv when I was young and when I decided to visit Istanbul I knew this was something I really wanted to do. The performance is set in a beautiful subterranean space aglow in soft blue lighting that also serves as a restaurant. Also, due to COVID, the restaurant is temporarily closed. The show itself is mesmerizing and I was amazed that the dancers could spin so fast and for so long while staying in one place. The music accompanying the dancer’s routine is quite beautiful. One thing I would have enjoyed is a bit of commentary before the performance on the history of the dervishes.
We went on tour at 31.12. At 9.00. Good sides of the tour are that we didn't need to wait in line and that guide told us about historical facts of Hagia Sophia, what was really interesting. Also, the guide was really funny and made our tour more interesting becouse of that. Also, meeting point was on the exit so we didn't have problem to find our guide
Very enjoyable tour of Hagia Sophia , the guide (bearded one ) was very knowledgeable and was happy to answer questions. The guide provided us with a map Prior to tour we found an app from welcome to Istanbul which provides an audio guide - worth downloading to continue your tour after brief introduction
Had a great time at the show! Would highly recommend. It’s located inside Sirkeci railway station (just follow the signs) and is a very cool experience. Although they say you cannot take photos or videos, everyone did and no one seemed to mind.
We enjoyed the Tour very much. Meeting the guide was easy. Our guide was Isar, a friendly and helpful guy. He even helped us find another guide the next day from another company Isar told us many interesting stories about the Hagia Sophia..
