Day Tour from Sofia to Skopje, North Macedonia
- Transportation included
- Duration: 11 hours
We had a transfer to Skopje, meaning that we had a Bulgarian driver who was supposed to explain the history of things as we drove. Our driver was not so good on the history. However, our Macedonian guide, Michael, was awesome. He explained the history all the way up to present day, and gave us his thoughts on political situations, which we could never get from the media. We left feeling that we understand much more about Macedonia. Skopje is a very interesting city and worth a couple of days of any trip to the Balkans.
Thanks to our driver and our macedonian guide we had such an amazing day. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable during the long drive and during the walking tour (it was super hot in Skopje). They gave us time to exchange some money and helped us to figure out how much we needed as well. If you’re in Sofia don’t miss this opportunity, Skopje is such an interesting city!
As the trip was sold out it was a cosy journey! A slightly bigger bus would have been nice, whilst we were lucky to hear the guide on the way there I’m sure those in the back couldn’t hear anything. The guide in Macedonia was knowledgable but it was a very whistle stop tour. Not sure it was worth the £75 per person.
Our guide guy was fab (sorry can’t remember your name from 12th July) ! Really knew his history and general knowledge. It was a good walking tour once we were in Macedonia but it would have been good to have a little time to ourselves included too. Overall I recommend it.
We thoroughly enjoyed the day trip to Skopje. Our driver, Daniel, was chatty and entertaining. We had smooth drive to/fro from Skopje. The local guide, Lena, was very knowledgeable and she could addressed all our questions. The walk around the city was great.
