Country side trip Portuguese bridge Blue Nile gorge

To reach to Debre Libanos, you will need to travel north on the Gojjam route for around two hours. Debre Libanos is a significant monastic site in the Ethiopian Orthodox Christian community. at the 1300s, the well-known mystic Saint Teclehaimanot established the monastery at that location. In the vicinity of the new church, there is a tiny cave where it is told that he stood on one leg for seven years until the other leg gave out and he fell off. During this trip, individuals get the opportunity to gain knowledge about history and culture while also seeing birds. We get the opportunity to stop at an Oromo round house as we go across the Sululta Plain in order to gain a sense of the style of life that is prevalent there. In addition, there will be birds such as Common Cranes, Wheat ears, Black-winged Plovers, and Blue-winged Geese. As soon as we get in Debre Libanos, our first stop will be at the Jemma gorge. The Jemma is a river that is one of the rivers that goes into the Nile. Nearly one thousand meters down is where you will find the valley. The Black-headed woodland Oriole, the White-billed Starling, the Red-billed Starling, the White-winged Cliff Chat, the White-cheeked Turaco, and the Hemprich's Hornbill are some of the birds that we could observe here in the canyon and in the woodland that surrounds the church. Others include the White-cheeked Turaco. The Gelada, sometimes known as the bleeding-heart baboon, is a species of baboon that can only be found in Ethiopia. We will witness a variety of species in the gorge, including Lamergeyer's, Ruppell's, and Lappet-faced vultures, among others. After leaving the Gorge, we make our way to the church. After seeing the church, visitors have the opportunity to go to the cave of St. Teklehaimanot. It is possible for monks to display the corpses of around 300 monks who were murdered by Italian soldiers in 1936 in the vicinity of the cave. Mussolini and the Nazi administration held the belief that the Ethiopian Orthodox Church had a significant role in the process of achieving Ethiopian independence. They were under the impression that if they murdered a large number of members of the Church, they would be able to coerce the Ethiopian people into submission. People were even more driven to strike back as a result of the act of violence. Following the visit, take a vehicle ride back to Addis Ababa.
