Enter into the Cuyabeno Reserve and enjoy a canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River to your lodging place in the jungle. During your 4 days, you'll have a chance to trek into the rainforest to learn about its extraordinary range of medicinal plants, to fish for some Piranha in the Cuyabeno River, and to enjoy some free time relaxing in a hammock nestled in the jungle.
You will be accompanied by a bilingual naturalist guide for the duration of the tour, and your accommodation at the Amazon jungle lodge are included, as well as any excursions and equipment required throughout the tour.
Day 1: Quito – Lago Agrio – El Puente
Following a flight or a bus journey from Quito one day prior to the tour or an overnight stay in Lago Agrio, the tour will congregate at the Hotel D`Mario at 08:30. After picking up those guests arriving by plane, you will journey by private bus to El Puente, which marks the entrance to the Cuyabeno Reserve. From El Puente, enjoy a leisurely canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River to your lodge for the night. Have fun with some exciting nocturnal adventures, sit down to a nice dinner at the lodge, and enjoy a discussion of the diversity of animals in the surrounding jungle.
Day 2: Laguna Grade
After breakfast, trek into the primary rainforest to learn about medicinal plants and the biological flora and fauna. After lunch, relax by the river or enjoy a siesta in one of the hammocks, and spend the afternoon taking part in a range of fascinating activities including Piranha fishing, swimming in the lagoon, and Caiman spotting. Conclude the evening with a fabulous sunset and a delicious meal.
Day 3: Cuyabeno River
Start the day with a hike to a different part of the forest to see some of the biggest trees in the entire Amazon, and visit an indigenous community, where your naturalist guide will explain the culture and traditions of the native people. Meet with a local Shaman, and then learn how to prepare the traditional food of the community before you sit down to enjoy a delicious lunch. Conclude the day watching the sun set over the nearby lagoon before dinner together.
Day 4: El Puente – Lago Agrio – Quito
Start the day observing the birds and animals of the rainforest in the tranquility of the early morning Watch the sun rise over the jungle canopies and, after breakfast, journey up the Cuyabeno River to El Puente, catching your last glimpse at the fascinating jungle landscape. Arrive in Lago Agrio at around 14:00, followed by your return flight or bus journey home.
