What You'll Do
  • Experience the beautiful scenery of the Simplon Pass
  • See the Matterhorn, one of the highest peaks in the Alps
  • Ride on the Alpine Metro and marvel at the views from the Sunnegga Paradise viewpoint
On this full-day tour you’ll depart from the Lake Maggiore area, cross the Simplon Pass into Switzerland, and continue onwards to Zermatt, home of the majestic Matterhorn mountain. Explore the town of Zermatt, and take a ride on the Alpine Metro!
What to Expect
The Ossola Valley winds its way gracefully upwards toward the Alps and away from Lake Maggiore, leading you to the famous Simplon Pass. At the highest point of the Pass, the Belvedere Viewpoint, there are unbeatable panoramic views, in all directions, of the Swiss and Italian Alps.

During this full-day trip you’ll continue onward and upward through Brig and Visp and along the Matter Valley taking you further into the heart of the Alps.

At Taesch you’ll take the rack and pinion railway up to Zermatt. Situated at over 1,600 meters above sea level, Zermatt is surrounded by some of the most famous peaks in the Alps. You’ll see the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, the Gornergrat, and in all, no less than 12 peaks that rise over 4,000 meters.

Zermatt is the most picturesque of the Alpine villages and is completely pedestrianized. Experience a journey further up into the mountains on the Alpine Metro or enjoy your free time exploring Zermatt and basking in the dramatic splendor of the Matterhorn.
