Stockholm's archipelago divides the city into a smorgasbord of attractions for different tastes. Here are five of the best, rich with history and character, to build any walking tour around.
Swing by the private palace of the Swedish Royal Family and roam its fabulous gardens. Don't forget to check the Palace Theatre's program of Summer concerts!
One of Stockholm's most historically significant buildings is pretty from the outside, but its interior is truly spectacular. It's also home to Scandinavia's largest pipe organ!
These magnificent monuments stand opposite each other in Stockholm's Old Town. You'll want to tour the area's cobbled streets to catch other historic sights, like the Riddarhuset.
This neo-classical building is home to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the annual Nobel Prize ceremony. Great to see lit up at night!
One of the city's most popular parks and always full of life – even in winter, when the ice rink opens up! If visiting in spring, be sure to see its gorgeous cherry blossoms.
Free walking tours are a great way to see Stockholm on a stringent budget, and you'll likely be surprised by how good they are! That said, don't forget that this is how your guide makes a living, so don't forget to bring some cash for a tip at the end.
The archipelago makes Stockholm very flat and easy to traverse – not to mention scenic! Walking tours don't have to be grueling, with most taking about an hour and a half. Seeing beyond the key landmarks can add quite a bit of time, however, with longer tours averaging at about three hours.

Although we weren’t very lucky with the wether, we had a fantastic day. Eric did a super great job. He explained a lot, was extremely motivated and we had a great ambiance in our group. We highly recommend this trip.
A very Entertaining and interesting tour with a bit too little information about the meaning of some names or places-but hey, that‘s what you get on a „normal“ tour?! Thanks Callum for the peak Performance:)
Small group (just one very nice couple). Good food. Our guide Victoria was terrific. A very pleasant way to spend the afternoon sampling Nordic food plus small cross-section of Stockholm neighborhoods.
Dara was my guide and did an exceptional job! She provided history, stories, jokes, and smiles. Was a great exchange, lots of details, and overall learned so much about Swedish life in Stockholm.
Our Tour Guide names Soma was awesome. She was enthusiastic, funny and very detail about the food history and ingredients. The meatball and the fish place had delicious flavor. Really enjoy it
