One of Scotland's largest and most important castles, Stirling Castle is the site of many important battles in Scottish history. It's well worth a visit, but before you go, here are some historical snippets.
The King’s Old Building is the oldest part of the castle, and is over 500 years old!
In 1297 William Wallace at the Battle of Stirling Bridge defeated the much larger English army by trapping them on the bridge.
A significant Scottish victory over the English, who had until this point occupied the castle for 10 years!
Mary Queen of Scots was crowned in Stirling Castle in 1543. She was only 9 months old, and apparently cried throughout the ceremony.
The castle is now a popular tourist site, and hosts cultural events and concerts regularly.

What People Are Saying About Stirling Castle
I took the tour with Johnathan and had a great time! He was so funny and entertaining but also very informative and kind. The sights in Glencoe were so amazing. Loch Ness was beautiful as well and a must see. We had a lot of stops along the way for bathroom breaks, snacks, shopping, and sight seeing. Great way to see natural beauty but also see several lovely small towns. I would highly recommend this tour, unforgettable day!
The tour was fantastic. Our guide had deep knowlegde of scotland's history! Will come again for a 4 day tour soon!!!
As we came to Princess street at 7:30 am we had no expectations, as we thought we will be in the car for the whole day sleeping and from time to time we will go out and take some photos. Then we saw the guides and literally pray for Ewan to be our guide... and it was!!!:) We havent slept at all...He is my personal hero, since he was speaking all the time and it was really not the usual boring staff....it was about history, nature, whiskey, and also about modern things as soap operas related to Scottland etc.. I think Ewan is really good informed, enthusiastic and he likes his job. During our first stop some girsl change the crew and sit in another car to see their friends. Another guys came to our car and told us, that they were sleeping in another car , since only thing the driver was talking about was the ZOO.... So I think we won our guide, and it was really really amazing trip. He also took photo with us and was polite even after 12 h. talking,so thnx Ewan B.!
The drive guide was really talkative and told us many interesting things About scotland.
It was a great experience to have the leisure of seeing castle, country, and cocktails. Our guide was wonderful and full of great information and energy. He had the perfect recommendations for lunch, what we should concentrate on seeing and how the day would go. I would recommend the tour if you only have a day.
