Perhaps we got lucky and simply went when it was not busy, but we were there during the busiest time of year (early May). This is clearly the least popular museum out of the "big three" - the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk, and the Van Gogh Museum. There was no line and not really many people there. My family is very into modern art and the pieces there were quite meaningful to me! They do have a couple of Van Goghs, a Rothko, Picassos, and many other recognizable artists in their permanent collection. I found the current exhibits to be really excellent. The cafe is overpriced, but you expect that from any museum.
Great collection of works on display; ranging from early seminal works to recent developments. Spent by 4 hours and could have happily been there longer but had tickets for another booking, my 11 year old daughter enjoyed the experience too, would recommend the audio tour for some helpful insights.
I had a lovely visit to Amsterdam Stedelijk and would recommend going before noon because the museum does get more crowded in the afternoons.
O am mot a fan of modern art but all the same it was worth tosee Kandinsky, Chagall amd the photo exhibition.
It was a really good experience! There were different univers and a good vibe in every room.
