Mürren: Paragliding over Lauterbrunnen Cliffs and Waterfalls

Mürren: Paragliding over Lauterbrunnen Cliffs and Waterfalls

Meet your pilots in Mürren and hike to the take-off field where you will get a briefing from your pilot. Then, simply take some running steps and be in the air in front of the mighty Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains. Soaring high above Mürren, witness the Lauterbrunnen valley open up below, with the sheer cliffs and waterfalls seeming close enough to touch as you glide past them like a bird on a tandem paraglide. Land in Stechelberg, on the valley bottom, next to the Stechelberg Schilthornbahn cable car station, where you can hop on the bus back to Lauterbrunnen or take the lovely waterfall walk back to the village, and walk off some of that adrenaline.

Interlaken: Waterfalls Day Tour

Interlaken: Waterfalls Day Tour

On this day tour from Interlaken, ride by minibus to Lauterbrunnen Valley, known for its many waterfalls and lush nature. Revel in the stunning beauty of three waterfalls and explore the impressive natural architecture of the valley. See Europe's oldest funicular at the Grand Hotel Giessbach. Begin your tour in Interlaken, where you'll meet your guide and set out for a short drive to Lauterbrunnen Valley. Along the way, marvel at the glacier-hewn walls that give the valley a distinctive appearance. Keep an eye out for the famous nearby alpine peaks: the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Arrive at Staubbach Falls, the third highest waterfall in Switzerland at nearly 300 meters. In summer, warm winds disperse fine droplets of spray like dust in the air, giving the waterfall its name, "Staubbach," or "dust brook." Watch the cool spray pouring down the steep, rocky mountainside. Next, Trümmelbachfall greets you with a thunderous symphony of ten roaring subterranean waterfalls. This single brook bears the task of draining the glacier melt from the mighty alpine peaks above. Bear witness to the spectacle of the world's only glacier waterfalls that are accessible underground. Once you've strolled along Trümmelbach's underground galleries and platforms, head towards Giessbachfall. Extending over a length of 500 meters, these falls tumble down 14 stages to feed into Lake Brienz. See Europe's oldest furnicular and the historic Grand Hotel Giessbach at the foot of the falls. Finally, walk behind the falls of Giessbach before returning along the turquoise waters of Lake Brienz. Enjoy the scenic drive and conclude your tour in Interlaken.

Admire one of the largest nature reserves in Switzerland. In Lauterbrunnen, visit the Trümmelbach waterfalls where up to 20,000 liters of water per second thunder through a narrow gorge. Have a guide at your disposal that knows the region well and is happy to answer questions and provide recommendations on the Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken, and the Jungfrau region. Sit down to a picnic of alp cheese, sausages, and regional specialties. Pedal on paved roads and gravel paths that allow for easy climbs in this beautiful valley where you can see much more than just the waterfalls. As E-Bikes are like normal pedal bikes, that support you while pedaling, there's no difference in handling e-bikes versus normal bicycles. Means: if you are confident in riding a regular bicycle, you will be confident in riding an e-bike. If you are not confident in riding a bicycle, this tour might not be the right tour for you.

From Zurich: Waterfalls Valley & Aareschlucht Gorge Day Tour

From Zurich: Waterfalls Valley & Aareschlucht Gorge Day Tour

We will greet you at the lobby of your accommodation in Zurich. On comfortable SUV/minivan we will make an unforgettable day trip to the heart of Switzerland - the valley of waterfalls. For all its splendor, Lauterbrunnen itself is quite small: its length is about eight kilometers, and its width does not exceed a thousand meters. But in this small area, there are as many as 72 waterfalls falling down from sheer cliffs. The most famous and most visited of them are Staubbach and Trummelbach. Both of these waterfalls plunge into the valley from a dizzying height of over 300 meters. It was previously thought that Staubbach was taller than Trummelbach, but more recently, after careful measurements, the opposite has been proven. However, everyone who visits Lauterbrunnen should definitely see both of these waterfalls, as well as other beauties of the fabulous valley. The Reichenbach Waterfalls (opening times 4 May – 6 October 2024) in Meiringen is one of the most famous waterfalls in Switzerland. Opened in 1899, the funicular will take you 244 meters high into the mountains. Visitors from all around the world come to see the place where the famous detective Sherlock Holmes fought to his death with Professor Moriarty in 1891. The Aareschlucht is a section of the river Aare that carves through a limestone ridge near the town of Meiringen, in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. The gorge is an indirect product of glaciation; 10,000 years ago, just as the Ice Age was coming to an end, torrential runoff water from melting glaciers eroded a deep, narrow chasm through the limestone barrier. Although barely 1,4 kilometers long, this passage is bordered by sheer cliffs up to 50 m high on either side. The gorge varies in width from some 30 meters at its widest to just 1 meter at its narrowest.
