The exhibitions at Norsk Oljemuseum/Norwegian Petroleum Museum in Stavanger gives you a insight in how offshore operations have become Norway’s most important industry. While exploring the exhibitions, you will understand more of this industry; how oil and gas are formed, how resources beneath the seabed are found, and how drilling and production are conducted. They also cover the big climate challenge posed by greenhouse gas emissions and global warming.
Exhibits present the technological advances made by this sector, and how oil revenue have affected Norwegian society. Original objects, models, films and interactive exhibits convey the history of petroleum operations on the Norwegian continental shelf.
Make sure to see the museum film “Oilkid” – a film about growing up in times of change.
Children and youngsters will find many activities at the museum; the rescue chute, catastrophe room, interactive games and a play-plattform for the little-once where they can slide, play and climb.
