Full description
Your tour will begin as you are picked up at your location specified when booking. Note that drop off location, upon return, will be the same as pickup location. Your estimated pickup time is 5:00AM from your accommodation. Be ready 5 minutes before estimated pick up in front of main entrance. You will begin by heading to the Stavanger Ferry Station or Lauvvik Ferry Station, from where you will take the ferry across the fjord. From the other side is a short drive to Preikestolen Lodge, your starting point for the hike. The hike up will take you between 2-3 hours, with a distance of 4 kilometers each way. Once at Pulpit Rock, you will spend some time enjoying the sunrise and the beautiful nature, with plenty of time to take photos. You will also enjoy your packed lunch, beverages, and some snacks here. The hike back will likely also take 2 to 3 hours, and you can later expect to arrive in Stavanger at around 8:00AM-10:00AM.

Important information

What to bring

  • Food and drinks
  • Hiking shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing

Know before you go

  • The trail is well marked and easy to follow, but depending on weather, the rocks may become slippery in some of the more demanding areas (some hiking experience is desirable, but not mandatory)
  • Hikers should be prepared with clothes and shoes accordingly to the weather forecast
  • Hiking boots are strongly encouraged, or approach shoes, at the very least (other suggestions include warm, windproof and waterproof clothing)
  • Bring some water with you to keep hydrated, preferably in a container that you can refill along the trail
  • Lunch will not be provided, but we suggest that you bring your own lunch
  • Each hiker is responsible for carrying their own gear, so a suitable backpack is recommended
