The narrow and spectacular Nærøyfjord is surrounded by steep mountainsides with snow-covered peaks rising 1,800 meters above sea level, with cascading waterfalls and idyllic villages along the fjord. One of those villages is Gudvangen, which in the Viking Age was an important place for trade. Add to that one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world, recommended by National Geographic and Lonely Planet.
1. Tvindefossen: The first stop will be this waterfall. Come closer to the water and feel its freshness.
2. Stalheim: Drive the winding road up to this hotel where you can get an amazing view over Nærøydalen valley, included in the UNESCO Heritage List along with the Nærøyfjord.
3. Gudvangen: After coming down on the serpentine road from the hotel, drive past a powerful waterfall and arrive at the village of Gudvangen. This place is an ancient Viking site where they used to pay tribute to their gods. Here you will embark on a cruise along the Nærøyfjord.

8. Voss Municipality: Described as the capital of extreme sports in Norway, this little town has a charming atmosphere. Walk to the church built in the year 1200, a symbol of the time when the Vikings converted to Christianity.
