Full description
Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in the morning, from where you'll head off in a private minibus to the suburbs of St. Petersburg. The destination is a picturesque location situated right in the middle of the forest and near the lakeshore. You will be welcomed by a kayur (dog-sled leader) who has lots of experience participating in some of the main Arctic expeditions in Russia in the 21st century. He will introduce you to more than 30 adorable Siberian huskies. They love hanging out with people and will gladly let you pet them and pose for as many photos as you want with them. You will then set off on a dog-trekking adventure, an activity that has gained popularity in Russia in the recent years. For the duration of a 3.1-mile hike in the forest, each member of the group will have a husky strapped to their back by a rope. The dogs will be the ones setting the course of the journey. Of course, a professional trekking companion will accompany you. Take in the breathtaking landscapes of the Russian Northwest. Upon returning, settle in for a lunch of baked potatoes with cheese, grilled sausages, bread, and vegetables, with Russian berry juice and herbal tea by the campfire. During lunch, your kayur will tell you more about huskies, the history of the breed, and about his experience as a polar explorer in the Arctic Region. After dog-trekking and your lunch break you’ll have some time to enjoy and explore the lake by yourself on a rowboat. You can cross the lake and take in the nature and the stunning landscapes. An authentic Russian banya (sauna) experience will serve as the perfect conclusion to your trip. There are two ways to experience this traditional activity. In the barrel-sauna, enjoy the hot steam and smells of natural wood. Right after, you can take an invigorating swim in the lake or a cooling summer shower. With the Phyto-sauna, enjoy diverse smells of herbal extracts and natural oils. This type of sauna is a perfect way to calm yourself and to improve your quality of sleep. After all this, head back to St. Petersburg and get dropped off wherever you like in the city.
