Absolutely magnificent basilica Exciting guided tour and great guide in French, very good explanation. The ascent of the dome and the view it offers us is incredible, however once you start you can't turn around and the climb is tough (320 steps) but well worth it, the view is incredible

A regular tour, nothing extremely good or bad. The one thing I have to say is that our group got a guide that had a very heavy accent, whose English wasn't the best (to the point where a few times people asked them questions and you could see from the answer that they didn't understand what was asked), and voice cracked so all together made it a bit difficult to stay focused and understand.

We took the tour on a Saturday in early November. We didn't have to wait long at the security check (20 minutes). Meanwhile, the guide has already told all sorts of interesting facts about the square and the cathedral. Once in the cathedral, there was information about the most important artefacts and trivia about the building. Near the altar you go down into the crypt where we didn't stay long. From there it was back outside and in line for the dome climb. Here we waited another 20 minutes. The guide took us to the elevator, we climbed it alone. The elevator takes you halfway up and you can see the altar from the inside of the dome. Then you have to take the last steps all the way up yourself. Stairs are very narrow. But also unsportsmanlike visitors come up. At the top you have a 360 degree view. When you come back down, you end up back in the cathedral and can look around yourself if you like.
