Full description
Built in honor of Ireland’s patron saint, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral stands adjacent to the famous well where tradition has it, Saint Patrick baptized converts on his visit to Dublin. Built in 1220, the Cathedral is today the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland, hosting sung services twice daily Sunday through Friday, and also serves as a popular visitor attraction. On view are a selection of artifacts relating to Jonathan Swift, the dean of the cathedral from 1713 to 1745 and author of Gulliver’s Travels. The cathedral also features a new Discovery Space with iPads playing samples of their choir and touch screen technology illuminating the cathedral’s long history. Perhaps more than any other building in Ireland, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral embodies the history and heritage of all Irish people of all backgrounds from the earliest times to the present day.

A must when in Dublin!!! The tour with the audio guide is highly recommended (is included in the entrance fee). I recommend buying the tickets here and being there early (because of the many visitors). The tour is about 1 hour & learns a lot about the Cathedral and Dublin.

Honestly, it’s history overload when you take the audio tour. I just was there to see some cool architectural details. Kinda bummed that it wasn’t set up more like a traditional church service. And after paying an admission fee, the baskets to put money into in order to light a tea-light candle were a bit much.

Very beautiful cathedral full of history and audioguide statues also in Italian that I would not take for granted in Ireland and sensitive to wars in fact we can find a tree where we can leave a written note to our heroes or relatives who have fallen in war since the first world war onwards certainly a horrible theme but unfortunately very topical.Visit the cattredale and look at The Organ, one of the oldest in Ireland, while you are there for those who believe in it, light a candle to St. Patrick to ask for better times ... Then as they always say ask and legitimate to answer is courtesy ....
