Full description
There's no other place in the world like Manuels River, an easy 20-minute drive from downtown St. John's. Travel back through time and explore over 650 million years of history on a 1.5-hour guided fossil hike with included access to Manuels River Interpretation Center and exhibits. Join a knowledgeable interpreter on a journey into the past, to a time where ancient creatures roamed the oceans. You’ll head downstream, starting off at the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre. Then, after a picturesque stroll through woods, come face to face with the fossilized remains of the trilobites, brachiopods, and other animals that called Manuels River home over half a billion years ago. If you opt to include lunch, you have two options. You can hike first at 10:30 AM. Then, after your fossil hike, enjoy a fresh home-cooked lunch and explore the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre exhibits at your leisure. Alternatively, arrive at 12:30 PM to enjoy lunch and explore the exhibits before your fossil hike. On Thursday evenings, opt for a guided fossil site visit, dinner, and an evening around the campfire. Set off on a 4 PM hike, explore the exhibits, then eat supper around 6 PM. Sit with marshmallows around the community campfire at 7 PM for a relaxed singalong.
