Positioned at an elevated location 506 meters above sea level in a wooded valley flanked by the dense Udawattakelle Forest at one perimeter and the vast Kandy Lake at the other, the core of the city is a series of old places buildings and numerous temples and Shrines. Kandy is the home of the sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha.
