Full description
Join us on our guided food, history, and culture tour in the 1700 years old Diocletian Palace in Split, Croatia. Enjoy local stories while strolling through almost 2 millennia-old streets of the Roman palace and tasting some of the best this Mediterranean pearl has to offer. We’ll start with a famous Pazar (Greenmarket) where you will taste some local ‘’arancini’’, almonds in sugar to sweeten your morning. After it, with a glass of local wine, we will have some tasty Soparnik, a unique dish protected by the UNESCO world heritage organization. While we stroll down the streets of the ancient city, we will enjoy some traditionally made prosciutto and then continue to the chocolate shop that even has a Guinness record for the largest chocolate bar in the world. Sweet for sweet, up to the oldest bakery to try the famous rafiol cake. Whenever you are in Split, you shouldn't miss the Fish market of Split called Peškarija. It is the second oldest in Europe, with original benches more than 120 yrs old. There we will teach you how to eat salted anchovies, something that is traditional marenda - Dalmatian brunch. And there it is - a food tour like it should be - tasty, yummy, and full of flavors. The unique gourmet adventure, where you will learn about local lifestyle, and Mediterranean cuisine, and taste traditional Dalmatian food. This unique Split History and Gastro tour will make your stay in Split just perfect.

Lots of fun and delicious food

Tanja was our guide and she was so much fun! We went to the fish market and learnt all about which ones to pick, then off to the green market to select our veg for lunch, all the way learning about local culture, history and cuisine. Fantastic lunch with a lovely group of people. Would highly recommend!

was fun Can only recommend!

First we went for a short walk, during which the guide explained interesting things to Tanja. Then it was off to the fish market, where she also knew a lot about the different fish. There you could buy fresh fish and then vegetables and/or cheese at another market. The ingredients were then prepared as desired in a nice restaurant. You could have only come to dinner in the evening. Overall a very nice activity!

Guide fantastic. Loved the fish and green markets. Restaurant slow

The restaurant was slow in bringing our wine and then mixed up the order. They were apologetic and did not charge us for a wine. The food was too slow in coming. It too an hour for our octopus Salad to arrive. And main was at least another 40 mins We met 2 other couples from our group who also had same experience. Concept great though.
