Spend your day sightseeing in the ancient city of Salona, former capital city of the Roman Province of Dalmatia. Then enjoy a guided tour of medieval Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on a small island between the mainland and the island Čiovo.
What to Expect
Explore some of the more unique cities in Croatia on a full-day private tour from Split that takes you to Salon and Trogir.
After morning pick-up, set off on the road back in time as you tour through ancient Salona, once an important Illyrian center and the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. Walking through the archaeological site, you will come upon one of the biggest ancient Christian cemeteries under the blue sky, the Manastirines. Visiting this Roman amphitheatre on the east Adriatic coast, you will experience what the ancient gladiators must have felt standing in the middle of such a spectacular construction.
Your journey through ancient history will continue in Trogir, a city that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A number of narrow streets from ancient times will take you through the historical town, enriched with a number of cultural-historical monuments, old churches, and a variety of belfries, palaces, and loggia, through the lives of the local citizens of Tragurium. After touring Radovan’s portal, you will see the Cathedral and hear the story about the baptistery and chapel of St. John of Trogir.
