What to Expect
Croatia offers travellers amazing beaches, spectacular history, and food you'll have to taste to believe! Spend a week exploring these culinary delights on this gastronomic adventure up the Adriatic coast of Croatia.
You are transferred from the airport to the villa or hotel in Split. You'll have some time to relax and unwind before heading down to dinner, where you will meet your fellow culinary explorers and enjoy a tasty meal. You'll also receive a complimentary gift basket, courtesy of the Taste Dalmatia program.
Start the day with breakfast before meeting up with your personal chef for a walk through the local market. Here you can experience the true Mediterranean flare of this city, and pick out the ingredients you'll use during your cooking class. For the first lesson, you'll learn all there is to know about this specific type of cuisine, and at the end you'll receive a complimentary Dalmatian spice rack.
After lunch, we'll head back to Split to visit the Diocletian palace - a 1700 year old Roman monument. We'll also head to the Cathedral, Jupiter's Temple and many other highlights of this magical city. Dinner tonight is served alongside Dalmatian wines.
Morning breakfast and then we'll head to Salona and Trogir, two nearby cities. Salona was the former capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia, and still boasts handsome forums, temples, and an amazing amphitheater. Your guide will point out these archeological remains before you head on to Trogir. Here you can visit a UNESCO dedicated open-air museum, which hosts Greek and Roman artifacts, as well as more "modern" middle-ages ruins. Here in Trogir, you'll also visit the famous fish market, and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant.
After breakfast you'll head to Krka National Park and the city of Skradin. This beautiful landscape is dotted with cascading waterfalls and pristine natural beauty. Because of the unique location, some of the best olive oil in the country comes from this region, and you will visit a local factory. Afterwards, you can head into the National Park and visit Šibenik, a truly picture-worthy city.Lunch will be organised in restaurant in Sibenik followed by a short sightseeing and return to Split.
Breakfast is served and then we'll head to the river delta of Neretva. Here you can enjoy breathtaking views while dining on a typical lunch of the region. Prepare for the adventure, because the food here includes lots of yummy delicacies like eels and frogs, which are popular in this area. After filling your belly, we'll head on a boat ride before dinner.
Breakfast is again served, and then we'll head to Dubrovnik, often called the Jewel of the Adriatic. This fortified Medieval town has one of the longest city walls in Europe, and makes for some great photo ops! Lunch is filled with local delicacies like oysters and other fishes, famed from this part of the country. After lunch, we enjoy a guided sightseeing tour before dinner at a local restaurant.
