  • Silfra: Snorkeling with Underwater Photos Without Transport

    6. Silfra: Snorkeling with Underwater Photos Without Transport

Have an out-of-this-world adventure while drysuit snorkeling in Silfra rift, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Thingvellir National Park. The hidden natural wonder has 100 meters of underwater visibility with bright colors that make the experience almost unrealistic.

Meet your guide and group directly at the site in Silfra and prepare to travel between two continents in the rift. Be guided through magnificent scenery and view Silfra from the surface while the slow current carries you through the stunning underwater landscape.

Stay dry underneath your drysuit or, for the more adventurous, choose the wetsuit to feel the natural cool waters.

Snorkel through the pure and clean waters of Silfra and end the tour in a lagoon often called "the real blue lagoon" because of the bright blue color of its water.

What a fabulous experience! Maria took time with us to get our dry suits on correctly and really explain the process. I highly recommend this activity

  • Snorkeling in Silfra Fissure - Small Group Adventure

    7. Snorkeling in Silfra Fissure - Small Group Adventure

Undergo a unique underwater experience by snorkeling in the Silfra fissure on a half-day tour from Reykjavik. Frequently rated as one of the world's top 10 dive sites, Silfra offers up to 100 m (300 ft) of underwater visibility.

Admire views of Iceland's stunning landscape as you ride from Reykjavik to the heart of Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site. Snorkel in this location for 1 hour with your guide, before returning to the warmth of the tour van and heading back to Reykjavik.

The cold waters melt off a glacier 50 km (30 miles) away, and make their way through lava fields to beautiful Thingvellir Lake.

Although the chilly waters are too cold to support much in the way of marine life, Iceland's Silfra crack runs down between the American and European continental plates a...

Fantastic experience! Beautiful, clear water, helpful guide, and lovely views all around. This was one of my favorite things we did in Iceland. I was very worried that my hands and feet were going to be too cold (I get Raynaud's), but actually while hands were quite cold, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting (I think partly because the dry suit keeps your body completely warm), and they warm you up quite quickly with hot cocoa afterwards. Very well worth doing--don't let the cold put you off!

  • From Reykjavik: Golden Circle and Glacier Snowmobiling

    8. From Reykjavik: Golden Circle and Glacier Snowmobiling

Board the bus at the BSI Bus Terminal and drive off to experience the different geothermal landscapes of Iceland's legendary Golden Circle. Stop at Þingvellir National Park, known for its exceptional beauty and historical importance as the site of the world's first parliaments. Continue into the hot springs area of Geysir, before driving to Langjökull to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime adventure activity! Take control of a snowmobile – or travel as a passenger – to explore the vast white ice cap of Langjökull for an hour. Make your way back to Reykjavík via the spectacular Gullfoss Waterfall and gaze in wonder as the Hvítá River thunders into a 32-meter deep canyon.

It was a great trip but I think the time traveling should be explained in the brief as this is quite a lot of the time out....also the actual time you get on the snowmobile was very misleading. We had half that time and the experience was very disappointing. It should explain that you literally go up and around in a circle following everyone which was very un impressive and not worthy at all of the cost of this. Next time I would probably not bother doing the snow mobiling as I felt it wasn’t a true experience of what it was Described as.

Very nice and relaxed tour with the possibility to see a lot of the nature around the see with its volcanic sand & stones. The horses are very cute & easy to handel, even if you are a beginner or haven't been on a horse for a long time like me. The guides are very nice and explain everything + take good pictures at a very well chosen place. I'm happy that I decided to go on this trip last second before flying home!!!

What people are saying about Southern Region, Iceland

We had two guides, Hallur and Ronan. It was because of them that this trip was so enjoyable! The waterfall was majestic and extremely windy. The geysir was tiny but still worth a visit. Then Hallur brought us for some delicious ice cream. It shocks the body to enjoy ice in the cold but the texture was just too good to put down the ice cream. Then, we went snorkelling with Ronan. Right off the bat, he was friendly and most kind. He got to know each one of us personally. He was a diver in the navy so you can rest assured that you're in safe hands! Ronan made the snorkelling experience like a party. We had so much fun. The waters were clear and mesmerizing. And the hot chocolate that comes after was the best thing ever. I was nervous about the cold before, but the cold didn't cross my mind at all while snorkelling. It was an awesome experience. Ronan was amazing too, as he always went out if his way to help us. Amazing trip overall! Highly recommended! The guides should get a raise too ;P

This was by far the best tour I did in Iceland. I honestly wish I had known about Troll tours before so that I couldn’t have booked all my tours with them. Our guide Michael was very nice and entertaining and made sure we had enough time to go see everything on the south coast. The glacier hike was also beautiful and the highlight of the trip and something I recommend everyone do!

This tour was well worth the money, the guide “God” was amazing and really made this tour what it is, from the humour to the very cool facts about Icelandic history. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

An exceptional tour through a magical landscape delivered by an incredible guide (Oliver)! 5/5, I can’t recommend strongly enough, thanks so much! Dominic, London

We had an amazing time during this tour! Our guide (BG - sorry if misspelled) was absolutely helpful and knowledgeable. We highly recommend this tour!
