Enhance your Red Sea holiday with a day trip from Eilat to Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, and Bethlehem. See the major sites of the ancient city of Jerusalem, take a dip in the salt-rich waters of the Dead Sea, and visit Bethlehem, where Jesus was born.
What to Expect
Enjoy an early start, leaving Eilat at 05:00, and head north to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Stop to bathe in the mineral-rich salty water, have breakfast, and perhaps buy some body-pampering Dead Sea products.
Continue on the drive through picturesque hilly scenery, arriving at Jerusalem at around 11:00. Spend some time looking for souvenirs at the various markets before you start the Jerusalem tour. From the top of the Mount of Olives you’ll have spectacular views of the Old City.
From this point you’ll head down into the Old City. See the ancient walls, the Church of Nations, and Church of Mary Magdalene, continuing through the Lion's Gate into the Muslim Quarter.
The tour will take you to holy sites of the 3 Abrahamic religions, through a microcosm of cultures and a fascinating blend of the ancient and modern. Walk through the Jewish Quarter to the Western Wall before exploring the Turkish markets. Visit the Via Dolorosa and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
After a light lunch, you’ll tour the ultra-orthodox neighborhood of Mea Shearim and stop at the vibrant Mahane Yehuda Market, famous for its bustling atmosphere and array of delicious foods. Alternatively, if you have chosen to visit Bethlehem you’ll do so at this point and meet up with the group at 18:00 for the return trip to Eilat.
