2. From Jerusalem: Petra 2-Day Tour

This fully-packed two-day tour begins in Jerusalem. Driving through the Judean desert, head towards the border and go through the Allenby Bridge/King Hussein crossing into Jordan. Once in Jordan, visit the historical site of Mount Nebo, a unique viewpoint of the Jordan River's west bank. It was carved into the red rocks of the soaring cliffs in the early 1st century as the tomb of a Nabataean king and was hidden under sand for centuries before recently becoming accessible again. A licensed tour guide will lead you through the Siq (a narrow gorge), the Treasury, and the Amphitheater while you marvel at the beauty of each structure. Following, you will have time to explore independently: climb to the Royal Tombs, walk down the Roman Cardo or hike up to the Monastery. What people are saying about Southern District, Israel

It's a stretch by bus but it's worth it. We loved getting to know the Wadi Rum desert, the Bedouin camp, riding a camel. The bus allows you to charge your cell phone and has internet in the Israeli part, it was a bonus. The biggest disappointment was Petra, not because of the heritage itself but because of the dirt and rubbish, it's very sad. Trucks pass in front of the treasure, the bathrooms are disgusting, there is rubbish everywhere (there was even an abandoned abandoned car) in the middle of the main access, the signs with explanations are broken, there are sales counters inside the main attractions. .in short, very very sad since the ticket is expensive, but putting that aside, it's spectacular. The guide did not enter Petra with us, we were all short of explanations. In everything else we were very well accompanied and welcomed.

This was a really excellent way to see a few highlights of Jordan, and was really excellent value for money. The guides made the border crossing a lot easier and quicker than it likely would have been navigating it on my own. The camp in Wadi Rum was great, and the time in Petra was incredible. Highly recommend the 3-day tour over the 1- or 2-day options, as there is so much to do in Petra - having the extra day there was well worth it. If you leave from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem it is quite an early pick-up and late drop-off, but if you can sleep on buses then this is not a problem - it means that you have almost three full days exploring Jordan.

The experience was very nice. All very well organised. The tent where we were to sleep was luxurious and each had a private bathroom. In Petra we walked freely and did what the guide had told us. Petra is exceptional and worth seeing at least once in your life.

Amazing experience. Wadi Rum and Petra are a once in a lifetime experience. Very well organized. Only the accommodation and food in Petra that was provided, was not acceptable at all.

Wonderful. All excellent. A pity the weather did not accompany to make the extrrior tour
