We loved our guide! He asked us what we wanted to see and created a wonderful day for us. Chose great spots to stop along the way, picked a delicious local restaurant for lunch that was so quiet and lovely. He was a careful, safe driver and very friendly and polite. The beach was a bit crowded - as we knew it would be - but the water was crystal clear and very refreshing. He did tell us the sand was no longer as pink as in pictures from a decade ago. Unfortunately tourists over the years have taken sand home for souvenirs. You can still see it in some of the shallow pools. So glad we did this tour!

We booked this tour last minute and glad we did. We only had 7 hours in port and we chose to do Elafonisi beach. Didn’t realize it was 1.5 hours away until we got in the car, but not only did we really enjoy the beach, the drive was very scenic and beautiful. Our guide Vagelis was so great! He stopped twice for us, once at a local coffee shop, and then again right before beach to get some stuff for mimosas. No bars on beach and it’s about a 5-7 min walk downhill-ish from the parking lot. The drive was pretty windy so if you get motion sickness keep that in mind. You can buy umbrella/chairs for 20 euros but get there early! Leave time for atleast an hour in Chania to visit harbour and shops. Vagelis warned us beach wasn’t as pink as it use to be but it was still very cool! This was a super fun day for us just wish the cruise gave us more time.
