This tour allows people to visit the archaeological site of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. Once there, you will have the chance to enjoy a shared guided tour to visit the ruins with an English-speaking guide.
What to Expect
Forgotten for hundreds of years, Pompeii was buried under a layer of ashes and lapilli in 79 AD during the Vesuvius eruption, one of the most dangerous volcanos of the world, which buried also Herculaneum two thousand years ago. Pompeii is today the second most famous archaeological site in the world so if you’re visiting the Campania region, you cannot miss it.
The excursion will start from Sorrento where you will be picked up from your hotel/accommodation or from the nearest meeting point. The first visit will be at the ruins that will last about 2-hours, you’ll then proceed by bus to Mt. Vesuvius, stopping at 1,000 metres and continuing by foot to reach the crater. From the top, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of the Bay of Naples. Return to Sorrento in the afternoon.
