On our amazing Lake Atitlan Villages Tour, fun and excitement are mixed in with the beauty and cultural experiences of the lake. We depart from our office in Panajachel and head to the colorful village of Santa Catarina Palopo.  In this village we can see and learn about local weavings, blankets, nahuales and other goods made and sold by the locals. At the plaza of the village, visit a local coffee house where you can grind your coffee and taste the locally grown beans.  Finish in Santa Catarina, and hop back on your ATVs to continue our ride for a few more kilometers until we arrive in San Antonio Palopo village.  Once in San Antonio, we park at the local pier and walk over to the local ceramic factory where we visit and learn about the process to make all these incredible goods. Visit a local chocolate factory in San Antonio, learn about the process of turning cacao into a finished product, and taste some chocolate. Once finished in San Antonio, we head back towards our office in Panajachel for a drink.

The Lake Atitlan Sunset Tour stands out as a top-notch afternoon activity for those exploring Lake Atitlan. Starting from our office in Panajachel, our journey leads us to the first stop in San Andres Semetabaj. The adventure takes a rugged and off-road turn, lasting approximately 30 to 35 minutes as we navigate towards a lookout point known as "Ojo De Aguila." It's important to note that due to the challenging terrain, driving experience is recommended, as the journey can be demanding for those who haven't driven before.Once we arrive we are able to have an aerial view of the entire lake seeing the volcanoes, different towns, all the boats traveling in the lake and if we get lucky some paragliders lifting off or touching down from their flights. After spending some time here we head back down the mountain and visit the town of Santa Catarina Palopo were we have a local stop where we explore a charming local town rich in weaving, crafts, and local culture.For those who like to venture out you can take some time to walk around the edge of the lake and meet some locals. After visiting Santa Catarina, we head to our last stop which is Café Flor in Panajachel that allows us to watch the sunset over the lake. Here, you have the opportunity to grab drinks, coffee, or snacks while watching the sunset. from the lake shore you have the flexibility to wrap up the tour at this scenic spot, offering you the option to linger and enjoy the atmosphere a bit longer. Alternatively, if you're ready to conclude the evening, a quick 2-minute walk back will take you to our office in Panajachel, providing a convenient endpoint for your tour.

Mayan Home Stay has started this program in the village to give something back to the communities around Lake Atitlan, and also to give you a very genuine of living with a Maya local family to see and experience their culture and customs. Meals in the home will be prepared by the mother of the family and you will have the opportunity to enjoy dinner and breakfast with the family. (Both are included in the price). Although shy at first, the villagers are very friendly and welcoming people. The home stay will give you a genuine insight into the everyday lives of a local family. If you take photos of the people in the village, please always ask before you take them. You might find the housing situation in San Jorge La Laguna rather basic but the reason for doing this home stay is to give a real insight into Guatemala, so you can see / experience the culture firsthand and interact with the local community on a personal basis.

This is the best half day tour you can do in Lake Atitlan. This tour on motorcycles will start in Pana going all the way around to the opposite side of the lake to Santiago, Atitlán. On your way towards Santiago, we pass various towns for individual stops and lookouts overseeing the lake so we can enjoy amazing views from different points around Lake Atitlan. Some of the Stops included a Chocolate Factory, Ceramic Factory, Cultural Center, the popular lookout of El Cerro de Oro, the beach en San Lucas Toliman and a nice place to grab lunch near the water in Santiago. You will travel through paved roads, dirt roads, and other “Guatemalan roads” along the way. If you are a motorcycle enthusiast this is a great way to visit many places around the lake in just half a day.

Your day begins with a visit to the village of Santa Cruz La Laguna before heading high into the mountains. Hike along ancient paths that have been used by the Kachekel Maya for centuries. On this 6-hour adventure you’ll see farmers tending their maize and coffee crops, and see some of the most magnificent scenery in the world. Visit a sacred Mayan site where rituals are performed by local shamans, and make your own offering at the altar. The hike will take you up 2,500 feet above Lake Atitlan, affording breathtaking views of the lake. This rugged and remote area has had little contact with the outside world. The 4-hour walk/climb through magnificent scenery is a bit difficult, but not overly challenging if you’re in good health. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the way, or eat at a local comedor. (Lunch is not included in the tour price.) You’ll come to a remote Mayan village high in the mountains, and from this point take a colectivo, a shared van/pick-up for the last few miles into Solola. Take time to explore the second-largest market in Guatemala before heading back to Panajachel by local bus or truck.
