Walk the romantic streets of Old Sofia and immerse yourself in its rich history on a 3-hour breakfast tour. Visit some of the most iconic sites, such as the Hagia Sofia Church, Sofia University and more. And sample superb Bulgarian specialties en route.
What to Expect
Experience Sofia like a Bulgarian and take this 3-hour food tour to explore and eat with the locals.
Start your morning at the Alexander Nevski Cathedral, one of Sofia’s icons. After a brief introduction, head over to a typical Bulgarian snack bar, passing local landmarks en route, including the 6th-century church of Hagia Sofia. Catch all the activity of Sofia University, and the serious business of the Parliament.
By this point, you’ll be ready for breakfast! Taste a typical Bulgarian banitsa (a delicious small pastry prepared from dough and cheese, and sometimes meat or nettle), served with an ayryan yogurt drink.
Belly satisfied, continue walking the narrow streets to Graf Ignatiev Street, home to a famous market, where you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables, or taste baked nuts or delicious snacks.
Continue to a famous pastry shop that prepares the best Bulgarian desserts according to traditional recipes. Along the way, you will encounter the biggest open-air book store in Bulgaria, and a favorite meeting point for many people.
Once at the pastry shop, sample a sweet baklava dessert, full of nuts. There may also be the chance to try tolumbichka, cream-cake or other typical sweets. As is customary in Bulgaria at breakfast, you will combine your dessert with a glass of boza, another unique beverage of the region. Bottoms up!
