The visit to the canyon is excellently organised. The tour operator, although there were no other reservations, nevertheless decided to organize the tour which to all intents and purposes turned out to be a "private tour" ... After half an hour by car you have the possibility - in 2/3 hours - to participate to the boat excursion (cost between 3.5 euros and 8 euros) and to go on a short trek.

Matka Canyon is a beautiful location and it is worth it to pay the extra 500 MKD to explore Vrelo Cave, as it is also quite impressive. It was just me and my partner on the tour and our guide was so kind and informative. You could tell he is passionate about what he does and very knowledgeable.

It was the perfect trip. We left from the citadel and our guide gave us an idea of what to expect, some recommendations and some historical facts. He showed us the monasteries and told us some great stories about them. Be advised to bring cash so you can pay for the boat ride or any other activity.
