Full description
Every year at the end of October, huge shoals of herrings arrive around Skjervoy and the Kvanangen Fjord 3.5 hours North East of Tromso. Hundreds of Orcas and many Humpback whales follow these shoals of herring and stay around Skjervoy until the end of January.
For your whale watching excursion, you will be picked from the meeting point in Skjervoy, and provided with a warm floatation suit. You will then board a small RIB boat to head out to see. You will see many whales, and even hear and smell them. Enjoy their company and take as many photos as you like.
It will be cold, so make sure you bring warm and waterproof clothes for the excursion. We will give you flotation suits that you will wear on top of your own clothes. An experienced instructor will be there to answer any questions you might have about the whales or the area. When the excursion is over, you will have sandwiches, tea and coffee in the local operator's office to warm you up.

Know before you go
- If you are staying in Tromso, you can either rent a car and drive (3.5 hours to Skjervoy), catch the Hurtigruten Coastal Steamer (4 hours), or catch the Hurtigboat public speed boat (2 hours). It is recommended that you travel to Skjervoy the day before the excursion
