We were meant to take a morning tour but had unforeseen car troubles and were afraid we would miss our tour. Ryan was so understanding and allowed us to join the afternoon tour instead. Janet was our guide and absolutely AMAZING! She was so knowledgeable about the glacier and ice caves--taking us to three ice caves during our visit as well as all over the glacier. She was so kind and helpful to my in-laws,who were on the tour with us and needed to take a few breaks throughout. She made sure it was a wonderful experience for our entire group, and she took picture after picture of us! This was absolutely the highlight of our trip to Iceland-- the weather was incredible, the area was gorgeous, and it felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you, Janet and Ryan!
The whole tour is an adventure. To get there you are transported by super-jeep closure to glacier. The road is not really the road but it is extremely funny. The guide was local, so ut was more interesting to get more information about the life of local people. We highly recommend you to visit. It is worth of money - the whole tour took us close to 4 hours and most of the time you are spending in the glacier.
It was an amazing hike up the glaciers. The team provided us with crampons and ice axe for us, which makes it so much easier to hike. We wouldn’t be able to hike without a guide, so it was definitely a great experience! Also, take note that the weather changes a lot so it really affects how the ice cave looks like.
This was a highlight of our trip! Our guide was incredible and made our experience a priority. The reviews are correct in saying that you don't spend a significant amount of time in the caves, but the whole tour is an adventure, not just the time in the caves.
Great short day trip for the whole family. Easy to tie into a self-guided experience at Jokulsarlon and Diamond Beach.
