Discover the origins of Singapore on a private tour of the Serangoon district, one of the city's oldest residential neighborhoods. Learn how life is lived in this wonderful melting pot of cultures. Enter one of the community parks to discover how one of the world's most densely populated cities can be beautifully green away from the skyscrapers.  Learn how the 3 main cultures and religions live in harmony and admire the Hindu and Chinese temples at the Sri Muneeswaran shrine and Hiang Foo Siang temple. Enjoy an ice-cold coffee or tea in a bag and drink it on the go. Check out a traditional medicine shop and find out how Chinese medicine is different from western practice.  Known for its fun workshops, Serangoon provides something for everyone. Check out the wet market where the locals buy fresh produce. To round off your tour, take a bus to Singapore’s last surviving Kampong. You won’t believe your eyes, it feels like a true jungle. This peaceful village feels as though time stood still. There are homegrown vegetables and tropical gardens filled with banana and coconut trees. A great way to meet a local!

We met Monica at Serangoon MRT and hopped on a local bus to look for hidden treasures in that area. We had a lovely 3 hours walking around markets, learning about local life, ordering tea the local way and looking in shops I asked to see. A really nice way to leave the tourists areas and learn what its like to live in Singapore as a local. I highly recommend this trip.

Fantastic

Our guide Monica was full of knowledge and a beautiful person. We learnt a lot about life in Singapore and got to join a game of bowls with a group of seniors in a park. People we met were so happy and friendly. This is certainly worth doing if you want to get away from all the tourists for a couple of hours, and experience what life is like in Singapore. Tea at a local coffee shop and visits to 2 temples plus lots more.

Monica was outstanding & so informative taking us off the beaten path

We not only saw how the locals live but learned about how the cultures exist together. I was impressed with the information and details that Monica shared with us regarding the lifestyle in Singapore while integrating the historical along with the tour while being very accommodating to our individual needs.
