Top things to do in Singapore
Despite its relatively small size, the island of Singapore is jam-packed with attractions and activities. Whatever your preference, the choice is truly overwhelming, so here's a selection of the city's highlights to help you make the most of your visit.
1. Universal Studios Singapore
Even the most seasoned theme park afficionado will be amazed by Singapore's Universal Studios. Make sure to get the priority pass to enjoy every one of the park's numerous rides.
2. Jurong Bird Park
This world-famous bird park fully deserves its stellar reputation. The breathtaking aviaries are spread over 50 acres, housing an absolutely mindboggling variety of bird species.
3. Telok Ayer Market
The historic former market is now primarily a food center. An architectural marvel, it's a great place to taste a wide variety of cheap food options in a picturesque environment.
4. Singapore Botanic Gardens
Singapore's Botanic Gardens stretch over 183 acres and are simply spectacular, featuring perfectly kept trees, plants and flowers of all kinds. Incredibly, entry is free of charge.
5. Underwater World
This wonderful aquarium is home to over 2,500 underwater creatures. Top amongst its highlights is the 83-meter-long tunnel, allowing guests to see the marine spectacle from below.
6. Night Safari
One of the city's most popular attractions, the Night Safari is a night-time zoo, offering visitors the extraordinary opportunity of witnessing the life of nocturnal creatures.
7. Singapore Flyer
With a height of 165 meters, the Singapore Flyer is the world's second largest ferris wheel. Jump aboard one of its capsules and take in the glorious views from the top.
8. Singapore Zoo
This zoo deservedly ranks amongst the best in the world. The animals are kept in stunning enclosures resembling their natural habitat—even the polar bears are made to feel at home!
Planning Your Visit
Eat like the locals
Amongst Singapore's many highlights, food ranks very highly. However, the best meals are not necessarily found in the many restaurants, but out on the streets, where the local population eats. Visit any of the city's numerous hawker centers and take your pick from one of the many stalls offering cuisine from all over Asia. Not only will the food be delicious, but you won't believe how little it costs!
Proper etiquette
Singapore boasts a large variety of cultures, many of which have specific and sometimes strict social customs. While a certain level of ignorance is tolerated in tourists, if you're invited to dinner or to someone's house, it's good to inform yourself about proper cultural etiquette in order to avoid offending your hosts.
Bring a sweater
Though Singapore's weather is hot all year around, the air-conditioning is kept at very high levels indoors. It's a good idea to carry a sweater with you, as visitors unaccustomed to the air-conditioning can easily catch a cold from the frequent temperature jumps.

What people are saying about Singapore
The Segway tour was easy to book on line and meeting instructions very clear. Josh was our tour guide and we had a great time. Due to Coronavirus restrictions on travel Singapore pretty quiet so there were just the two of us on the tour. Josh took a short video of us and plenty of pictures incorporating some of the famous sites. There was no extra charge for this and the pictures are great. Found mini Segway easier to handle than the larger Segway I have used before. Overall a great tour and well worth the money.
Great place to visit and fantastic guides. We booked the visit with the meal included as we where not sure what time the trip finished. The meal was great brilliant choice of food from a wide selection. We where left to do what we wanted to do after the train ride which was great.
Excellent tour. Helena was such a terrific tour guide. Knowledgeable, engaging and making tour interesting for all ages. We really enjoyed listening to the military history and exploring the Battlebox. A great tour for locals and those visiting.
Great tour, really informative, interesting, and so evocative to stand where the decisions were actually made. Horace was a great tour guide and he really made the whole experience come alive. Totally recommend this tour!
This is the most unique tour I've ever been on, highly recommend! Our guides Stanley and Jasmine were so knowledgeable and fantastic story tellers :)
