Top things to do in Singapore
Despite its relatively small size, the island of Singapore is jam-packed with attractions and activities. Whatever your preference, the choice is truly overwhelming, so here's a selection of the city's highlights to help you make the most of your visit.
Universal Studios Singapore
Even the most seasoned theme park afficionado will be amazed by Singapore's Universal Studios. Make sure to get the priority pass to enjoy every one of the park's numerous rides.
Jurong Bird Park
This world-famous bird park fully deserves its stellar reputation. The breathtaking aviaries are spread over 50 acres, housing an absolutely mindboggling variety of bird species.
Telok Ayer Market
The historic former market is now primarily a food center. An architectural marvel, it's a great place to taste a wide variety of cheap food options in a picturesque environment.
Singapore Botanic Gardens
Singapore's Botanic Gardens stretch over 183 acres and are simply spectacular, featuring perfectly kept trees, plants and flowers of all kinds. Incredibly, entry is free of charge.
Underwater World
This wonderful aquarium is home to over 2,500 underwater creatures. Top amongst its highlights is the 83-meter-long tunnel, allowing guests to see the marine spectacle from below.
Night Safari
One of the city's most popular attractions, the Night Safari is a night-time zoo, offering visitors the extraordinary opportunity of witnessing the life of nocturnal creatures.
Singapore Flyer
With a height of 165 meters, the Singapore Flyer is the world's second largest ferris wheel. Jump aboard one of its capsules and take in the glorious views from the top.
Singapore Zoo
This zoo deservedly ranks amongst the best in the world. The animals are kept in stunning enclosures resembling their natural habitat—even the polar bears are made to feel at home!
Planning Your Singapore Visit
Eat like the locals
Amongst Singapore's many highlights, food ranks very highly. However, the best meals are not necessarily found in the many restaurants, but out on the streets, where the local population eats. Visit any of the city's numerous hawker centers and take your pick from one of the many stalls offering cuisine from all over Asia. Not only will the food be delicious, but you won't believe how little it costs!
Proper etiquette
Singapore boasts a large variety of cultures, many of which have specific and sometimes strict social customs. While a certain level of ignorance is tolerated in tourists, if you're invited to dinner or to someone's house, it's good to inform yourself about proper cultural etiquette in order to avoid offending your hosts.
Bring a sweater
Though Singapore's weather is hot all year around, the air-conditioning is kept at very high levels indoors. It's a good idea to carry a sweater with you, as visitors unaccustomed to the air-conditioning can easily catch a cold from the frequent temperature jumps.

What people are saying about Singapore
Carol was an excellent guide on our Little India tour on tuesday
The tour was fascinating about the history of Singapore and that of the Indian settlement here. Little India is a vibrant, colourful and busy area with fabulous eating places as well as being a great shopping experience. I would recommend this tour as a must to understand this part of Singapore’s development and life today.
Incredibly informative - and at times emotional - historic experience.
The Guide was amazingly knowledgable and communicated well with visitors of all ages. From the technicalities of how the Battle Box operated, to the details of the Japanese occupation, the tour made its history and significance very clear. Many congratulations !
Very. Ice way to discover the Marina Bay Atea
Joshua did an excellent job explaining how the segway worked. It was a little bit more sensitive than what we are used, but after -0 min we were ready to “hit the road”. The compiled video clip Joshua sent us after the trip was a very nice surprise!
As first time Segway users we had a lot of fun and saw new areas
Pleasant and helpful staff, good training on use of the equipment. The only challenge was finding the location of their "store" in the mall complex. They made arrangements for customers arriving by taxi but not for (us) arriving by subway (MRT)
pickup was an extended procedure but Universal studios was fantastic
Id travel by taxi in future as the pickup took hours. Universal studios was fun but they need some entertainment for when you are waiting in line for 40 to 60 minutes for a ride. Do buy the queen jumper ticket.
