This is without a doubt one of the best ways to see the Great Wall. That said there were a few that were not as expected (or described). Our guide met us at the meeting point at 8:00 on the dot, there wasn't a van parked or a sign or anything like that. The van as comfortable, snacks and water were provided. Our guide Tao was awesome, very talkative and knowledgeable. As for the hike, it is harder and more technical than expected. My fitbit clocked me in around 8,000 steps and 36 floors. The initial climb to the first tower is 1,400 steps and if it is hot it can be a little tough. From the moment you step on the wall the views are absolutely amazing if the weather cooperates. Once you begin hiking on the wall, some of the sections are original and in bad shape which makes them almost like rock climbing. There is water and snacks for sale at a few of the towers. The meal you get was more like a restaurant and less like a farm, but it was good especially after the long hike!

Irrepetible. Merece la pena lo que cuesta

The experience has been very good. On the day of the appointment, it was raining a lot. Peter, the guide, gave us the option of doing the excursion the next day. We agreed on everything and the next day we set the course. The best thing I did was pay more money to go to the part farthest from the wall. At the most, in four hours of travel, we only met 50 people. The guide is unique. He knows all the history of the great wall. In fact, he has written a book. He took care of everything: cold drinks whenever we want, chocolates, maps ... Also Peter is a professional photographer and during the tour he took photos with his camera. At trip back to beijing gave us a pen with all the pictures and the artistic quality was outstanding. I would repeat this same excursion with the same guide. His name is Peter Cao. The eight hours of excursion do not disappoint

Our experience was incredible. Our guide Tao was very knowledgeable and let us pick our climbing pace. Lots of opportunities to stop, take photos and enjoy the view! The hike up To the wall is quite steep, but once on the wall it is gentle going. We were the only group booked in on our day, and we only met a few people on the wall. Totally recommend this time of year. Cold, snowy and spectacular. Tao checked our dietary requirements and made sure that the meal cooked at the farmers home was allergy free and he even made sure we were safely in a taxi at the drop off point. The wall was fantastic and the experience was perfect because of our guide Tao.

What an amazing day! We had wonderfully blue skies and very little wind on our hike from Simatai to Jinshanling. Tau was a fantastic guide. He provided great insight to the wall, region, history, and peoples. He made sure everyone was comfortable with the pace and had plenty of time for photos whenever we liked. Mind you, there are a lot of stairs to climb on this 15 tower trek, but they are doable and so worth it. ADDED BONUS: I didn’t expect too much from the included lunch after reading previous reviews, but it was one of our favorite meals during our stay in China! Highly recommended!

Overall exactly what was advertised. Tao our guide was excellent in all respects. Knowledgeable, charming and efficient. The walking is manageable but you do have to be a comfortable hiker/walker. The footing is technically a challenge. Don’t be miss lead by my age notation I am well above the fitness of my peers and I was tired and worn by the last tower. Trilled with the views and accomplishment but tired and worn.
